When you want a little entertainment and nightlife, look no further than Reno/Tahoe. We’re a major stop for any performer, and on any given weekend there are several national headliners playing at different venues around the area and a variety of smaller acts taking the stage at cabarets, clubs and lounges.
Circus Circus, Harrah’s, Eldorado and the Silver Legacy have teamed up to bring national acts to the new Reno Events Center. Located right in the heart of downtown Reno, it has played host to dozens of concerts, including Carrie Underwood, George Lopez, Michael Buble, Jay Leno, and Def Leppard. Eldorado and Silver Legacy also bring acts to their own showrooms, featuring headliners such as Blues Traveler, Hall and Oates, George Thorogood, and extended-run stage shows like Twelve Irish Tenors and “Dancing Queen,” a tribute to ABBA.
Harrah’s also plays host to some great entertainment, with free live concerts on the Harrah’s Plaza weekly during summer and Greg Thompson produced stage shows like “Rock My Ride” and “Rawhide” playing throughout the year.
The Grand Sierra Resort has always believed in the draw of good entertainment. The 1,800-seat showroom, featuring the world’s biggest stage, hosts many big-name entertainers and up-and-coming alternative rock bands, including Steve Winwood, the Deftones, the Stray Cats, LeAnn Rimes, REO Speedwagon, and B.B. King.
AT LAKE TAHOE, MontBleu, Harrah’s Tahoe and Harvey’s all feature big names in their showrooms, including comedians, classic rock artists, and internationally known DJs.
In addition to entertainment, bars and lounges abound in Reno/Tahoe. The casinos offer a variety of watering holes, including sports bars, piano bars, cabarets and ultra-lounges, each pouring signature drinks and classic cocktails, while a number of new clubs and bars have opened around downtown Reno.
Many casinos also feature arcades for the kids (and the kids at heart). And, of course, Circus-Circus in Reno is built around the circus theme with performers under the big top every day. For many young people it’s the first time they’ve seen acrobats, magicians and aerialists up close and in person.
THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT that nightlife and entertainment is part of the Reno/Tahoe experience. It’s one of the reasons more than five million visitors come here each year. And as long as people come, the entertainment will be here. |
