In July, arts and culture fill
the city as artown takes center stage. The largest visual and performing
arts festival in America, this event lasts all month long and features
performances by internationally known artists, cultural events, galleries, exhibits and
much more – more than 200 events and performances in all.
In August we play host to the Reno/Tahoe Open, a PGA Tour event
at Montrêux Golf & Country Club. This annual event gives
golfers and spectators alike the opportunity to see some of the
most exciting pros on the PGA Tour, competing on this very challenging
course designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Also in August, Hot August Nights fills the streets with vintage
automobiles, poodle skirts, leather jackets and James Dean lookalikes.
Nostalgia in full force, a prom concludes this week-long event.
Get your reservations early – this event sells out months
in advance.
DURING SHAKESPEARE AT SAND HARBOR, Shakespeare takes on a relaxed yet elegant tone in one of the most
stunning settings imaginable. The experience is just as relaxing
as it is culturally fulfilling. Performances held on Sand Harbor
beach, it is an opportunity to experience the world's most revered
writer amongst the stars, pines and shimmering waters of Lake Tahoe.
In September, the morning skies are filled with balloons for the
Great Reno Balloon Race. Dozens of balloons take to the skies for
balloon racing and events, including the spectacular Dawn Patrol.
It’s the best reason ever invented to get up early. Then the
aerial action switches from vertical to horizontal, as Reno/Stead
airport hosts the National Championship Air Races, the world’s
fastest motor sport.
ALL THIS AND MORE, MORE, MORE. It’s
enough to keep your calendar running, so mark your favorites now
and come back often.
